In 1979, Agnes Trouble, designer for Agnes b., made the cardigan a fashion basic and replaced the traditional buttons with snapping buttons.
Since then, cardigans have appeared all over the fashion runways. Long or short, thick or thin knots, buttons or snaps… the cardigan is now a wardrobe classic. The sweater can easily be layered with thin t-shirts or think jumpers, like the designer Jacqueline Riu proposes. Erotokritos’ think knot orange cardigan can be casually worn with a top and jeans. Cardigans look just as good over dresses. Marks like Gap, Promod and Zara sell classic cardigans in a wide variety of styles.
