In 1996, the Japanese designer Seiichiro Shimamura created his own couture atelier in Paris. The following year, he opened his first boutique, christened n°44, in his native Japan.

His 0044 mark specialises in European-inspired vintage style. With the success of its second hand clothing, 0044 slowly made the transition into ready-to-wear fashion designed and manufactured in France.

In 2003, the Paris branch of 0044 was launched, introducing its ready-to-wear collections for both men and women. The brand exhibited « revolutionary romanticism » showcasing « both aggressive and delicate » pièces. The founding creator explains « All of our collections are based on a story (…) An important part of life is discovering its principles, and it is even more essential to express them through fashion to transmit this message to the world ».

The immediate success of 0044 Paris mirrored the astounding response in Tokyo. In 2005, the first Parisian boutique was unveiled. It seems that 0044 is well on the way to becoming the newest Japanese mark to conquer the international fashion scene!
